Language and Literacy Therapy

Language is the foundation for communication, literacy, and academic success. Difficulties with language can affect the ability to understand information, express ideas, participate in classroom discussions, comprehend what is read, and communicate confidently with others.

Therapy is individualized to strengthen underlying language skills while supporting meaningful progress in academic and everyday communication.

Therapy may target:

  • Listening comprehension
  • Vocabulary development
  • Inferencing
  • Narrative language
  • Reading comprehension
  • Reading accuracy and fluency
  • Written expression
  • Oral language skills

Executive Functioning

Executive functioning skills help children and adolescents manage increasingly complex academic and daily life demands. When these skills are not developing as expected, tasks such as completing assignments, managing materials, organizing thoughts, or transitioning between activities can become frustrating and overwhelming.

Executive functioning is built on a set of interconnected cognitive processes that support learning, self regulation, and problem solving. Therapy focuses on strengthening these underlying processes while teaching practical systems and strategies that support greater independence, efficiency, and self-confidence.

Therapy may target:

  • Attention, inhibitory control, and self-regulation
  • Cognitive flexibility and self-monitoring
  • Working memory (verbal and nonverbal)
  • Planning, prioritization, and organization
  • Task initiation and time management
  • Problem-solving and independent learning

Fluency & Stuttering Therapy

Stuttering can affect far more than speech fluency alone. People who stutter may experience frustration, avoidance, anxiety about speaking situations, or reduced participation in academic and social activities.

Therapy is individualized and evidence-based, with intervention tailored to age, communication needs, and personal goals.

Therapy may target:

  • Increasing ease and confidence during communication
  • Developing effective communication strategies
  • Reducing avoidance and communication-related frustration
  • Supporting participation in academic and social settings
  • Building self-advocacy skills

Comprehensive Evaluations

A comprehensive speech-language evaluation provides a detailed understanding of an individual's communication profile and how language may be affecting academic performance, literacy development, and everyday functioning.

Evaluations are designed to identify strengths and areas of need, clarify diagnoses when appropriate, and provide meaningful recommendations to guide intervention and educational planning.

Following the evaluation, you will receive a detailed written report and a feedback meeting to review the findings, discuss recommendations, and develop a clear plan to support your child’s success.

Areas assessed may include:

  • Receptive and expressive language
  • Vocabulary and semantic knowledge
  • Narrative language
  • Reading comprehension and written language
  • Executive functioning
  • Fluency
